A Mariachi Band can offer much more than a brief and cheerful serenade. Originating in the Western countryside of Mexico, the Mariachi genre of music has a vast catalogue of traditional pieces. It wasn’t until the 20th Century that the music ‘modernised’ and was introduced to Mexico City where it became part of the identity of Mexican culture.

Known historically for their serenades the Mariachi bands also played in plazas, restaurants and traditional family gatherings.

Today, Mariachi groups perform both traditional pieces and modern hits in the distinctive Mariachi style. “Don’t You Want Me” and “I Love Rock n Roll” for example…!
